Redskins’ Dr. Anthony Casolaro Named NFLPS President

(Indianapolis, IN — February 28, 2020) – Today, M. Anthony Casolaro, M.D., co-Head Team Physician for the Washington Redskins, was unanimously elected President of the NFL Physicians Society (NFLPS).

“It is a great honor to be elected President of the NFLPS, and I am looking forward to the opportunity to lead this prestigious organization dedicated to caring for our athletes,” Dr. Casolaro said.

Dr. Casolaro has worked with the Washington Redskins since 1999 when he started an assistant team physician. He has been the Redskins’ Head Team Physician for 13 years. In addition to his work with the Redskins, Dr. Casolaro was previously the Vice President of the NFLPS. He has served on the NFL Health & Safety Committee as well as Head, Neck & Spine Committee for the past decade.

He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Georgetown University.

Dr. Casolaro received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia. He attended medical school at Georgetown University. Dr. Casolaro specializes in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. He received his Pulmonary training as a recipient of a National Research Service Award at the National Institutes of Health.

The two-year position as president of the NFLPS was previously held by Leigh Ann Curl, M.D., of the Baltimore Ravens.
