The Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame will honor the team’s longtime doctor at its induction banquet this fall. Dr. Patrick McKenzie [former President of the NFLPS] will receive the Bob Harlan Leadership Award, the hall of fame announced Wednesday. McKenzie has been associated with the Packers since the early 1990s. He is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in sports medicine, arthroscopy and ligament reconstruction. His work with the Packers has included evaluating players for injuries as they occur and performing surgeries as needed. In 2011, McKenzie received the Jerry “Hawk” Rhea Award as the NFL’s physician of the year in recognition of the work he did during the 2010 season. That year saw the Packers overcome the longest injured reserve list in the league to emerge as Super Bowl XLV champions. The Oshkosh native also practices at Bellin Health Titletown Sports Medicine and Orthopedics and serves as the team orthopedic physician for the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He has taught athletic training classes at UW-Oshkosh and serves on the WIAA Medical Advisory Committee.
