49ers’ Head Team Internist, Dr. Anthony “Nino” Saglimbeni Elected to NFLPS Board of Directors

(July 25, 2023) – Anthony “Nino” Saglimbeni, M.D., Head Team Internist for the San Francisco 49ers was appointed to the NFL Physicians Society (NFLPS) Board of Directors.

“I’m honored to be named to the NFLPS Board, and I look forward to being further involved in advancing the mission of such a prestigious organization,” said Dr. Saglimbeni.

Dr. Saglimbeni has worked with the San Francisco 49ers as a team internist since 2014. In addition to work with the 49ers, he also serves as physician for the San Francisco Giants, Santa Clara University and Bellarmine College Preparatory.

“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Saglimbeni to the NFLPS Board of Directors,” said Dr. Timothy McAdams, President of the NFLPS and Head Team Physician of the San Francisco 49ers. “I’ve had the pleasure to work with Nino for many years, and he has provided compassionate and outstanding care to 49ers’ players, staff, and all his patients. We are looking forward to the expertise that he will bring to the Board.”

Saglimbeni founded his practice, West Coast Sports Institute (formerly South Bay Sports and Preventive Medicine Associates), with the goal of providing the highest quality medicine experience to the citizens of the greater South Bay area. His medical group is well known in the Bay Area as a leader of sports medicine.

As a San Jose native, Saglimbeni attended St. Christopher School, and graduated from Bellarmine College Preparatory. Anthony received a BS in Biology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He briefly left California to earn his MD from Creighton University, then returned to the Golden State to complete a med-peds residency before finishing a sports medicine fellowship at University of California, San Diego.

Dr. Saglimbeni is also a member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM).
